Nathan stares at the man. His eyes are dark, looking this way and that. Something about them fascinate him. They look so expressive but worldly somehow. "What's your name?" he asks.
The intern looks up. "Evan," he says. "Evan Long."
Nathan nods, liking the way the name sounds. "I see. Are you new here?"
"Ye-- yes, sir," the man says. "Started a couple days ago."
Even though Evan has yet to look him directly in the eye, Nathan is captivated by his gaze. What it rests on, the expression on his face. "I see. Welcome to the company. I hope they've been treating you well?"
"Oh, yes, sir, they've been great," Evan hastens to say.
Nathan's opened his mouth to say something else, continue this conversation, when Paul joins them. "My apologies, Mr. Ross, but you're needed in the conference room. A board member is having a crisis and will only speak to you."
"Ah, very well. Thank you, Paul." He smiles at Nathan. "Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too," he parrots, watching as Nathan walks away.
He works his magic with the board member, but Nathan's eyes remain with him for the rest of the day.
